Welcome to Robert Gravestock & Mary Ann (Wilson) Gravestock Family History!
Our Website is set up to show the family history of both Mary Ann and Robert Gravestock, starting from our Great Great Grand Parents (GGGP). The main focus will be on both of our mother's, Cora Cotnam (Mary Ann Wilson Gravestock) and Agnes Rouble (Robert Gravestock) because our knowledge of our fathers is limited. Most off the updated information has been gathered by Mary Ann and this Website was done by Robert.
Mary Ann got involved after Pauline (Mary Ann's sister) showed her what she was doing at www.Ancestry.ca, and then she more or less took over from there. Mary Ann started her own research page and started entering any information that we had on our passed and present family members. If you or any family members want to look at what is entered there you can get a hold of by Emailing her and she will supply you with the information on how to get into her research page.
Ancestry.ca is a great site for doing research on any family members that are greater than 95 years old or from other family trees that have family members that are related, and is where Mary Ann has gotten a lot of info on where, and when they were born and their family members. But I find it very awkward to use myself so I suggested doing our own Website and to use a similar format as the "Wrobel - Rouble Family History 1872 - 1982" booklet as our guide. It has been over 25 years since then and there has been a lot of new family members born, so we hope that this will help our future generations to continue this effort of keeping up with our history and theirs.
All the information on this site is as accurate as we know, so please send us an e-mail or sign our guest book with your comments or if you have any new information, corrections, spelling mistakes or updates to the family history. Also, if there is anyone that does not want their information put on the Website, for any reason, please Contact me to let me know and I will hide any personal info from the site.
Also any digital pictures (preferred) or a scanned image from your photo album that you have, would be greatly appreciated with the following information to add to the Website:
- Full Name:
- Year of Birth:
- Place of Birth:
- Death:
- Marriage: with date, place and wedding pictures if possible.
- Individual and Family Pictures
- Email if you want, so other family members can get a hold of you just to talk or keep in touch. Your email link can not be harvested by spammers from this site with our "No Spam Email" script that we use.
- A write up about your family history or any other information that you would like to share or have added to your individual web page, on the Website.
We choose to represent the generations by the following enumerations:
- Great Great Grand Father or Mother; e.g., GGGF - GGGM
- Great Grand Father or Mother; e.g., GGF - GGM
- Grand Father or Mother; e.g., GF - GM
- capital letters for the first generation; e.g., A., B.
- numbers for the second generation; e.g., 1. - 2. - 3.
- small letters for the third generation; e.g., (a) - (b) - (c) - (d) - (e)
- roman numerals for the fourth generation; e.g., (i) - (ii) - (iii) - (iv)
- triple small letters for the fifth generation; e.g., (aa) - (bb) - (cc)
- family members that are not part of our genealogy; e.g., 1z. - 2z.
The family history is broken down into four main groups which are the Fitzpatrick's, the Cotnam's, the Gravestock's, and the Rouble's, which is also broken down into sub groups of Margaret, Francis, John, Albert, Catherina and Peter, because of there length. These pages show the total family history dating back to our great great grand parents up until now.
We then continue our family history with our generation, dealing with the family members and their families on an individual basis, showing their history and any family pictures that we have, or supplied to us by them.
Here is an example of the format that we will be using on the Website with the info that we will be adding and it would be nice to have a beautiful or handsome face, like the one below to look at other than a plain black silhouette. We will add family pictures to the site as we get them, or remove/replace any of them as asked by you through an Email.

If you are not able to see Mary Ann's Email and you are using Internet Explorer and a pop-up stops you from running scripts or Active X controls that could access your computer for security reasons, you must click on the pop-up for options and allow "Blocked Content". There is nothing on our site that can harm your security or your computer in any way.
Again the reason we use script is to stop yours and my email links from being harvested by spammers from this site with our "No Spam Email" script that we use.
Also I have added printer friendly documentation of the family history for your records, so that you can update any new members or information related to your family tree.
Depending on what browser that you use and the screen size setting, you might have to change the text size on the browser. If you are like Mary Ann, she like everything big and she has the screen sitting at 800 x 640. When I used her computer I thought I lost everything and only had a menu bar on the left, but by changing the text size everything came back to normal.
The browser that I like using is Firefox, which I find works much better than Internet Explorer and with less error messages and security problems. Also I find that the text on the page is much more clearer and readable on all text size settings, than that of IE.
This Website should work on all browsers and screen sizes but if it does not please let me know, and I will see what I can do to fix it.
We hope you enjoy reading this family history and we would like to thank everyone who has helped in any way in getting this information and supplied any pictures.
Remember this site is only as good as our family members make it by continuing to supply us with any new updates for us to add. So please continue to keep the site up to date for our future generations and theirs.
