Family and Descendants of the Late Joseph and Josephine (Czapiewska) Wrobel!

Joseph and Josephine Wrobel

Family CrestOur Website continues with Robert's GGGF Joseph Wrobel (born November 14, 1844 in Tuszkowy, Poland) and GGGM Josephine (Czapiewska) Wrobel. The majority of the information was obtained from the 1872 - 1982 Rouble Family Book done up by Dorothy Rouble and the Rouble Reunion Committee.

New information that was not in the book is about Joseph Wrobel's parents who where Paul Wrobel (1815-1881) and Marianna (Treder) Wrobel that lived in Poland. Also our search found that he had a two brothers and a sister. His sister's name was Augustiana Wrobel and she was born September 11, 1863 in Skwierawy, Poland. Some where along the way his brother John changed his name from Johan and he was born January 4, 1847 in Skwierawy, Poland and his death was February 15, 1909. You can check his obituary. Joseph's second brother August was born June 25, 1858 in Skwierawy, Poland and he remained single.

Joseph and Josephine (Czapiewska) Wrobel came to Canada in 1872 from West Prussia with a six-month old daughter named Marianna who was lost at sea during the trip. They sailed from Bremen on May 18, 1872 on the ship named "Agda" arriving in Quebec on July 29, 1872. Their destination was marked for Renfrew, Ontario.

Country to which they severally belonged was West Prussia.
Total number of people on board ship: 336
225 People over fourteen years of age.
73 Children under fourteen years.
38 Babies.

Josephine's Parents, Michael Czapiewska (Born August 30, 1818 in Poland and Died October 17,1909 in Renfrew) and Ann (zywicki) Czapiewska (Born in 1826 in Poland and Died September 1,1912 in Renfrew) and other family members came with them on the same ship, along with a number of families of familiar names such as: Mask, Narlock, Voldock, Bachinski, Rekowski, Stubinski, Keiser, Konopacke, Cybulski, Letterski, and Schulfer. Some of these families were destined for Renfrew also.

The House The picture of the house is where Joseph and Josephine lived in after they came to Canada in 1872 and the land which they purchased then was Crown Land at the time; it was on Lot 1, Concession 5 in the Township of Admaston (in the Pucker Street section).

As of 1982 Frank Stufko owned the farm land. The house was moved out to the Ferguslea in 1927 to the farm of Patrick Enright, whose house had been destroyed by fire. The Enrights lived in it from 1927 to 1945, then they sold the farm to Wilson McIntyre who still resided in it in 1982.

The Wrobel name had been changed to Rouble sometime in the early 1900's according to the records from St. Francis Rectory, as was the name Czapiewska to Chapieski, Mosko to Mosco, Milewska to Meleskie, and Knopik to Kenopic.

The Joseph and Josephine Rouble Family Tree Quilt.

This beautiful quilt made on a white background features the original names of Joseph and Josephine in the center and the family tree branches off in all directions.

Each branch of the family had its own color with each set of descendants in a lighter or darker color of the original names.

Close to 1,000 names were written on the quilt with colors of red, blue, green and others making a colorful pattern. The quilt was intended to be raffled as a special prize is being kept for family showers, parties and weddings. Those not named will find it fascinating to read the various names inscribed.

This beautiful quilt took years to research, over a year to quilt and arrange and is certainly a piece of art.

Agnes and Genie Rouble were the two who originated the quilt and they can be proud of such a great contribution to the Rouble family descendants.
